"One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious... This procedure, however, is disagreeable and therefore not very popular." -Carl Jung
Both Carl Jung & Black Elk understood that, unlike the protective instinct of selective denial, non-judgmental observation allows us to face, and therefore examine, the darkness as well as the light, the 'negativity' alongside the 'positive'.
"IT'S all good." - me, 2016 (i.e. May the force (both aspects) 'Be' with you...). "It's ALL good." - Billy Holiday, 1945 (i.e. Just go with the flow man...). "It's all GOOD." - M.C. Hammer, 1995 (i.e. More is better!).
Yeah, it's so important to do both. The negative energy needs to be released and the positive needs to be experienced. It's easy to get lost in either one. Good quotes. :)
Ha! So true.
ReplyDeleteYep. It is disagreeable. There's no way around that. But it is soooooo much better than unawareness.
